Healthcare Chef – Community Care Unit | Offaly Healthcare Catering Role (Accessible via Busáras)
  
We are recruiting an experienced Chef to join a Community Care Unit in Offaly, supporting the preparation of nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in a healthcare setting. This role contributes directly to daily care, routine and overall wellbeing within the unit.
  
The location is accessible via Busáras services, making it suitable for candidates commuting from surrounding towns and counties.
  
This position suits chefs with experience in healthcare catering, community care, nursing homes or large-scale kitchen environments who are seeking structured, daytime work within a regulated and supportive setting.
  
The Role
  
Working as part of a healthcare catering team, you will support the safe and reliable delivery of meals that meet dietary, nutritional and care-related requirements.
  
You will play a hands-on role in daily kitchen operations, maintaining consistency, food safety and high standards of service.
  
This is a stable, purpose-driven role where attention to detail and care for residents is essential.
  
Key Responsibilities
  

  • Prepare and present meals in line with dietary guidelines and healthcare requirements
  • Support daily kitchen operations to ensure timely and consistent meal service
  • Work across food production areas including hot food, cold prep, plating and service
  • Follow HACCP, food safety, hygiene and cook-chill procedures at all times
  • Manage stock rotation, food storage, waste control and ordering support
  • Ensure allergen awareness, portion control and quality presentation
  • Liaise with care staff and dietitians to support resident dietary needs
  • Maintain a clean, organised and compliant kitchen environment

  
Requirements
  

  • QQI Level 6 in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional chef qualification
  • Experience in healthcare catering, community care, nursing homes or high-volume kitchens
  • Strong understanding of HACCP, hygiene standards and cook-chill systems
  • Legal right to work in Ireland
  • Ability to provide five years of verifiable work references
  • Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work weekday and weekend shifts
  • Garda Vetting is mandatory for relevant roles.
  • International Police Clearance is required where a candidate has lived or worked outside Ireland for 6 months or more since the age of 16

  
Salary & Benefits
  

  • €20.50 per hour
  • Double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays
  • Full-time hours with day shifts only (Monday–Sunday roster)
