Hospital Chef job in Drogheda

We are seeking Chefs to deliver high-quality meals in a professional healthcare setting in Drogheda. Join our dedicated team with our client, where your culinary expertise will directly enhance patient care and staff satisfaction. 

Position Details

  • Location:  Drogheda
  • Shift Times: 7 AM – 6 PM
  • Salary: €18.80 per hour
  • Work Schedule: 5 out of 7 days, rotating schedule

  
Your Role and Key Responsibilities
As a Chef, your role will be central to preparing and delivering meals that meet high standards of taste, nutrition, and food safety. Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing fresh, high-quality meals for patients in line with dietary requirements and Nutrition and Hydration Guidelines.
  • Cooking and serving meals for staff in the cafeteria, adhering to healthy eating standards.
  • Ensuring full compliance with food safety protocols (HACCP) including accurate temperature monitoring and proper labelling of food stocks.
  • Collaborating with management and healthcare professionals to improve patient menus, cafeteria options, and recipes.
  • Supervising and directing kitchen staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment.
  • Managing stock rotation, food requisition, and waste minimisation to ensure effective resource use.
  • Supporting special functions and events within the facility as required.
  • Adapting menus and meal prep in line with healthcare-specific diets such as Renal, Diabetic, or Low-Fibre diets.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Professional Cookery Award at Level 6 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong understanding of HACCP standards and healthcare-specific dietary requirements.
  • Knowledge of catering in a healthcare environment.
  • Excellent teamwork, leadership, and organisational skills to manage kitchen operations smoothly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Awareness of and compliance with HIQA standardshealth and safety regulations, and infection control policies.
  • Willingness to attend mandatory training such as Food Safety, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, etc.
