Job Title: Staff Nurse – Oncology

We are delighted to announce an opening for a Staff Nurse in our client’s oncology ward, located in Cork. The successful applicant will work collaboratively within the nursing team, supporting colleagues, overseeing the nursing care of assigned patients during each shift. Our client invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced staff nurses eager to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the nursing care of allocated patients during each shift.
- Collaborate with the nursing team and assist colleagues to maintain the highest standards of patient care.
- Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Evaluating patient conditions
- Delivering cancer therapies
- Clarifying treatments and addressing patient inquiries
- Alleviating treatment side effects and managing pain
- Tracking patient vital signs
- Collaborating with other healthcare providers for seamless care
- Nurturing patients’ emotional health
- Guiding families to helpful resources
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered in the General Division of the live register of nurses maintained by the NMBI.
- 2 years minimum experience as a staff nurse within an acute hospital, preferably in an oncology ward.
- A relevant course in Oncology nursing or equivalent is a distinct advantage.
- Chemotherapy competence is preferred but not essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Strong leadership qualities, communication, and clinical skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Computer literacy is essential.
- Flexibility and excellent use of initiative.
