Kitchen Assistant – Mullingar | Healthcare Catering Job
  
We are recruiting a Kitchen Assistant to support a busy healthcare facility in Mullingar, working across kitchen and canteen services to ensure meals are prepared and delivered safely, hygienically and on time.
  
This is an important support role within a healthcare catering environment, contributing to patient wellbeing by maintaining high food safety standards and supporting smooth daily kitchen operations. It suits candidates with experience in kitchen assistant, catering assistant or healthcare food service roles who are looking to build skills in a structured clinical setting.
  
  
Key Responsibilities
  

  • Support food preparation and assist with meal service in line with dietary and portion guidelines
  • Maintain excellent hygiene standards across kitchens, equipment, utensils and preparation areas
  • Follow HACCP, food safety and infection control procedures at all times
  • Store, label and rotate food correctly to maintain freshness and minimise waste
  • Assist with canteen service to ensure an efficient, customer-focused operation
  • Keep kitchen and service pantries organised, stocked and ready for daily use
  • Follow correct waste disposal and recycling procedures
  • Work collaboratively with catering, kitchen and service teams to support safe and reliable food delivery

  
Requirements
  

  • 6–12 months’ experience in a Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant or food service role
  • Experience in healthcare catering, hospital kitchens or high-volume kitchens is an advantage
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Legal right to work in Ireland and ability to complete Garda Vetting
  • Ability to provide five years of verifiable work references
  • Reliable, organised and a strong team player
  • High commitment to hygiene, safety and infection control
  • Flexibility to work daytime shifts, including weekends and Bank Holidays

  
Salary & Benefits
  

  • €17.53 per hour
  • Double Pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays
  • Daytime hours only, typically 7:00am–6:30pm, working 5 days over 7
