Salary: €15.90 per Hour

We are currently hiring a Catering Assistant in Dun Laoghaire, offering you the chance to make a meaningful difference in a healthcare setting by delivering exceptional food and beverage service to patients. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals with catering experience, including barista skills, allowing you to prepare and serve high-quality coffee and beverages alongside meals. The position is a 9-month maternity cover with the possibility of becoming permanent, ensuring patient satisfaction and comfort while maintaining high hygiene standards.

We’re seeking flexible professionals available for 39 hours a week, with shifts alternating between 7 AM – 4 PM and 10 AM – 7 PM, over 5 days out of 7, including occasional weekend shifts. You will also benefit from double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays, making this opportunity even more appealing.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Your role will focus on providing excellent food service with compassion and professionalism. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and serving meals and beverages, ensuring patient dietary needs are carefully met.
• Delivering meals to patients in their wards and assisting them when required for comfort and satisfaction.
• Preparing and serving high-quality beverages, including coffee, in line with barista training standards.
• Following HACCP procedures and adhering to infection control policies.
• Keeping food storage organized, ensuring all items are labelled, rotated, and used in a timely manner to minimize waste.
• Collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and delivery.
• Maintaining cleanliness of utensils, equipment, and service areas in line with health and safety standards.
• Assisting with waste management and recycling in accordance with hospital protocols.

What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who thrive in a healthcare environment. Ideal candidates will bring:

• 6 months to 1 year of experience in a catering or food service role, ideally in a healthcare or high-volume setting.
• Barista training or experience in preparing and serving coffee and other beverages.
• Legal eligibility to work in Ireland and successful Garda Vetting clearance.
• 5 years of relevant work references.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to work in a team.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• A full driving license, desirable due to the location.
