Catering Assistant and Kitchen Porter job in Athy €15.90 per hour

We’re hiring for a dual role of Catering Assistant/Kitchen Porter located in Athy. This rewarding role combines front-line service in the patient wards with back-of-house duties in the kitchen, ensuring top-quality food and care for patients in a professional healthcare setting.

We’re looking for flexible and dedicated individuals available for full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with some weekend shifts. Shifts typically fall between 7 AM and 6:30PM. Double pay is offered for Sundays and Bank Holidays, making this an excellent opportunity for someone seeking competitive compensation and a meaningful career. Due to the role’s location, a full driving license is desirable for the right candidate.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
This is a dual role where you will contribute both front-of-house, serving patients in the wards, and back-of-house in the kitchen environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and serving meals and beverages, ensuring all dietary requirements and restrictions are carefully followed.
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing equipment, utensils, and surfaces following health and safety regulations.
  • Adhering to HACCP procedures and infection control policies at all times.
  • Storing, labelling, and rotating ingredients properly to reduce waste and uphold food quality.
  • Delivering meals to patients at their bedside, assisting when required to ensure their comfort and satisfaction.
  • Managing waste and recycling in line with established procedures.
  • Collaborating with kitchen staff to ensure smooth food service and prompt meal delivery.
  • Stocking pantries in wards with necessary supplies and preparing for daily service.

What We’re Looking For
We want highly motivated candidates who are eager to play a hands-on role in healthcare food service. Ideal candidates will possess the following:

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in a catering, kitchen service role, preferably in a healthcare or high-volume setting.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Ireland and successful Garda Vetting clearance.
  • References spanning the last 5 years of employment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • A commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards and infection control procedures.
  • Flexibility for shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • A full driving license is desirable, given the location.

Benefits of the Role:

  • Pay rate of €15.90/hour.
  • Double pay on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
  • Flexible daytime shifts that suit your lifestyle.
  • Professional support through our office team and out-of-hours on-call service.
