Administration Assistant (WPEP) – Dublin City Centre 

This Work Placement Experience Programme gives participants the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning, and training while on the programme. It is open to jobseekers who are receiving a qualifying social welfare payment or those transferring from another Department or ETB scheme. The Department of Social Protection will confirm eligibility during the application process.

This placement is ideal for someone who wants to start a career in office administration, gain confidence, or return to the workplace. As an Administration Assistant, you will work with and learn from experienced staff. You will develop practical skills in office administration, customer service, communication, and diary management—skills that are valued in many future roles.

Main Duties

• Welcome visitors and Clients to the office in a friendly and professional way.
• Help manage incoming phone calls and direct them to the correct team member.
• Open, scan, and file post; support outgoing mail and courier deliveries.
• Assist with scheduling meetings and updating staff diaries.
• Support simple Client enquiries, ensuring clear and positive communication.
• Help with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and restocking office supplies.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle information with care at all times.

Training Provided

This is a training-focused, entry-level opportunity. No prior administration experience is required.

Formal Training

• Structured induction to office procedures, systems, and protocols.
• Internal training on office management, communication, and organisation.
• Health and Safety training for safe working practices.
• Opportunity to complete the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module (optional), developed by the ETBs and the Department of Social Protection.

Informal Training

• Shadowing experienced staff to learn daily office operations.
• Hands-on practice with phones, emails, and communication systems.
• Practical experience with data entry, scheduling, and basic administrative processes.
• Ongoing mentorship to build confidence, professionalism, and workplace routine.

About the Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP)

The Work Placement Experience Programme provides jobseekers with the opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, training, and skill development while on placement.

This programme is open to candidates in receipt of a qualifying social welfare payment or those transferring from a social welfare scheme/ETBTraining Allowance. Eligibility will be verified by the Department of Social Protection as part of the application process.
