This Work Placement Experience Programme provides Participants with an opportunity to gain meaningful work experience, learning and training while on the programme. This programme is for jobseekers who are in receipt of qualifying social welfare payments and those transferring from a social welfare scheme or an ETB Training Allowance. Your eligibility for this programme will be verified by the Department as part of the application process.
 
As an Administration Assistant, you will assist and shadow our experienced staff, gaining first hand insights into office operations and client interactions. This placement provides an opportunity to develop core skills in administration and communication, setting the foundation for a future career in office management or administration. The participant will assist with and welcome visitors and clients as soon as they arrive at the office.
  • Assist with managing incoming phone calls, directing them to the appropriate department or individual.
  • Open, scan, and file post; manage outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Assist in scheduling and managing diaries for meetings and appointments.
  • Address client enquiries, ensuring a positive and professional interaction.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks, including data entry, filing, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.

This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary.
Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement
Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.
This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP.

Formal Training 
  • Participate in a structured induction programme to familiarise yourself with office protocols and procedures.
  • Engage in internal courses focusing on office management and effective communication.
  • Health and Safety training to ensure a safe working environment.

Informal Training
  • Shadow seasoned professionals in managing front-office operations and client engagement.
  • Gain hands-on experience in handling communication systems, including managing phone calls and emails.
  • Develop an understanding of administrative processes such as data management, scheduling, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Receive continuous mentorship to build professionalism and workplace etiquette.
